Hello there, and welcome to our third monthly Job Trends newsletter!

Salary data!
It’s here!
8 US states currently have mandatory salary requirements for employers. Details vary by state:
California, Colorado, and Washington require salary ranges to be included in job postings for employers with 15 or more employees
Connecticut requires employers to provide salary range information to applicants by the time a job offer is made
Nevada requires employers to disclose the salary range to applicants who have completed an interview
Rhode Island requires employers to provide salary range information to employees upon hire, when changing jobs, and upon request
Reason enough for us to display salary data for every single trend on the platform (currently over 1,700), both for the US and the UK.
What else is new:
We’ve increased the number of Trends from 1400 to 1750+!
In addition to salary data per job category, you can also see a ranking of the highest-paid jobs in the US/Uk
Global Search, you can now navigate to any trend from any page!
Emerging this year!
These roles and industries appeared in jobs for the first time this year:
Fractional roles are increasing in popularity for executives, and it’s no different for Chief Operating Officers.
Certainly one of the more morbid job trends out there. A lethality engineer designs and tests systems and components to ensure they meet safety and performance standards, often in defense and aerospace.
Nocode has been on the rise for a couple of years now, and refers to platforms and tools that allow users to build applications without writing code. Backend is the server side of these types of applications, typically the components that your users don’t see!
Growing strong in 2024
These Trends are on the way up this year (so far!):
Unless you’re active in AI you’re probably a bit confused by the name of this trend…
Allow me to explain: Hugging Face is the name of an AI community and tools platform, and the name originates from the “hugging face” emoji: 🤗
The company started as a chatbot targeting Gen-Z and has since pivoted into one of the largest AI communities in the world.
Hugging Face Transformers are tools designed to utilize pre-trained AI models and run these on your own hardware. You might’ve heard of Meta’s “llama”, which is one of the popular models on Hugging Face.
Not only is that very cool, but working with these transformers has become an essential skill to many machine learning jobs since the start of this year.
VAs getting more popular might have something to do with the large increase in overseas recruitment agencies. Big news in this space was Support Sheperd (now Somewhere.com) getting acquired for almost $30 million two months ago. Not bad!
Hiring agencies in this space typically place entry-level positions with overseas staff from low-cost countries like the Philippines. Virtual Assistants are some of the most popular placements.
From what I’ve heard talking to friends, VAs are a very useful addition to any business. Worth a shot if you’re a busy business owner!
I have to admit, I expected a job that involves a lot of manual entry to decrease in popularity with the emergence of AI. So far, that hasn’t happened (and perhaps I’m just wrong and it never will).
Quite the opposite, Data Entry Clerk has been growing steadily month over month this year and shows no signs of stopping!
Hiring is getting more complex and benefits packages are a big part of that. You now have mental health benefits, family planning benefits, personal/customized benefits, you name it!
Perhaps as a result, Benefits Advisor is seeing the highest growth amongst HR jobs this year to date.
What’s next for Job.zip
My to-do list is absolutely gigantic. Here are some of the priorities for August:
