Job Trends in June 2024
This month: Acoustofluidics, AI Cloud, Pickleball and more!
Hello there, and welcome to my first Job Trends newsletter!
If you're reading this on June 6th 2024, you’re likely one of the first 25 subscribers.
A big thanks to you for believing in the idea!
What’s Job.zip?
To be honest, I’m still figuring it out, but that’s ok!
As I get more data & feedback, my path will become clearer.
Here’s where I’m steering the ship towards right now:
I want to identify career paths that are stable/growing/shrinking under the influence of a changing world (AI, aging population, Climate issues, you name it!)
Every month, I want to identify new specialties and industries emerging in the job market.
I’m indexing about 10 million jobs each month, and want to provide you with a ton of useful data. In addition to the trends, I’m starting with company and salary data.
An interesting newsletter, maybe two or three!
An API to access my data for your analysis. I’m testing one right now.

What’s new @ Job.zip
Last month, my goal was to have a somewhat functional website by the time this email goes out. Most importantly, I wanted you to be able to search and browse all Trends:
You can now search and filter all trends on our “All Job Market Trends” page:
What else is new:
We’ve increased the number of Trends from just 25 to 400+!
Trends are now based on absolute numbers instead of percentages.
We can now add new Trends on-the-fly
You may now suggest a trend! (or respond to this email)
Each Trend has a job page with a selection of open positions from our ATS/Career site database (1,5 million active jobs). Example
Trends are now categorized
And many more small things I’m forgetting right now 😀
Emerging this month!
This is the first time we’ve seen these jobs:
I most certainly have never heard of this before. Several jobs are emerging in this biomedical science! Experts in Acoustofluidics study the interaction between sound waves and fluids, with applications in medical diagnostics, microfluidics, and lab-on-a-chip technologies.
Aquaculturists manage the breeding, rearing, and harvesting of aquatic organisms.
With the significant impact of the fishing industry on climate, we wouldn’t be surprised if aquaculture turns out to be a growing trend!
The perfect storm for a job trend in 2024: Data, Healthcare, and Privacy. Medical Abstractionists extract and summarize relevant information from medical records for use in clinical research, billing, and quality assurance.
Growing strong in 2024
These Trends are on the way up this year (so far!):
AI is maturing. As a result, we’re seeing a significant increase in AI Cloud jobs.
Everyone wants a piece of the OpenAI-pie, resulting in many companies spinning up their own versions, using open-source or in-house tech.
We’re seeing jobs from established companies like Qualcomm and NVIDIA, but also new players like Groq.com.
We expect Healthcare jobs to keep growing at a steady pace for many years to come with an aging population in the Western world.
CT Technologists are one of the most sought-after specialists in the industry right now. Don’t be surprised to have a recruiter in your inbox every week if you work in the field!
Perhaps the most popular sport of last year, resulting in a professionalization of the sport + an increase in jobs!
The lack of housing is a major global issue right now. We’re seeing an increase in jobs specializing in housing services and programs, Housing Officer being one of them. We’re hoping to add more housing-related Trends to Job.zip to see where the industry is heading. Respond to this email if you have any thoughts on this!
Will drivers be replaced by self-driving robots? Perhaps someday, but not this year. We’re seeing a steady increase in jobs for drivers this year-to-date! Someone has to deliver your Amazon packages and Doordash meals!
What’s next for Job.zip
My to-do list is absolutely gigantic. Here are some of the priorities for June:
More Trends. We’re looking to add at least another 500 trends before the next edition of this newsletter.
Integrating company data into trends. This is a big one. The number of jobs only tells one side of the story. I also want to show you the number of companies that hire for each trend.
Overall improvements to the site, starting with loading skeletons
Hiring Data! Each trend will have an overview with all the companies that are hiring in the space, super useful!
Further down the road:
Search on everything
Salary data!
Recruitment Agencies
Improvements to the job pages
Compare trends
That’s it for now, thanks for reading!
