Hello there, and welcome to our fifth monthly Job Trends newsletter!
September has been all about optimizing our backend for future job trends. We’ve indexed over 70 million jobs this year and ran into some issues concerning search, especially on the job pages.

This work will continue in October after which we hope to provide you with near-live trend data, instead of our current approach where we refresh data once per month. Exciting times!

Emerging this year!

These roles and industries appeared in jobs for the first time this year:

FLUX is an advanced diffusion model for AI image generation developed by Black Forest Labs. You might’ve heard of Midjourney, which is one of Flux’s competitors.

Bioarchaeology is the study of human remains from archaeological sites to understand past cultures and behaviors.

Studies ecological processes applied to agricultural production systems, promoting sustainable farming practices.

Growing strong in 2024

These Trends are on the way up this year (so far!):

We haven’t seen growth like this before, LangGraph is up 3000% since the start of the year!
And with good reason, LangGraph is a framework used to build AI Agent applications. Think of it as a way to build more sophisticated "digital assistants" that can handle complex tasks and conversations.

LangGraph is built by the company behind LangChain, which in itself has been trending upwards this year (albeit not as fast as LangGraph!)

Sports Minded Marketing is a job title often associated with entry-level positions in marketing and sales, particularly within companies that emphasize a competitive, team-oriented work culture.

There’s a lot of skepticism online about roles that include “Sports-Minded”. In many cases, Sports Minded Marketing positions are essentially commission-based sales roles with a sports-themed veneer. Companies using this title often employ a high-energy, competitive atmosphere to motivate employees, but the actual work may have little to do with sports or traditional marketing.

Time will tell if this is just another fad, or here to stay!


The role of the Infection Prevention Nurse is increasingly vital in today’s healthcare landscape. As hospitals and clinics focus on enhancing patient safety, these nurses specialize in preventing healthcare-associated infections. They develop infection control strategies, analyze data, and educate staff and patients. With the rising awareness of infection risks and the complexities of modern medical procedures, the demand for Infection Prevention Nurses is on the rise, making it one of the fastest-growing roles in healthcare.

Embodied AI is becoming a popular way of describing the combination of artificial intelligence with physical robots.
Unlike the more common applications of AI (like large language models), embodied AI combines artificial intelligence with physical robots. These robots can see, hear, and respond to their environment, making them capable of performing tasks in real life.

What’s next for Job.zip

My to-do list is gigantic. Here are some of the priorities for October:

  • We’re sending out our first trend-specific alerts next week. To sign up for monthly updates, go to a trend page of your choice and fill in the form.

  • We’re looking to add real-time updates to the trends, which will require a backend overhaul that we’re working on currently.

  • We’re looking to expand our indexing to several additional ATS
