Job Trends in December 2024
This month: AgentForce, Ollama, Agentic, and Humanoid Robots!
Hello there, and welcome to our seventh monthly Job Trends newsletter!
We’re pivoting to technology trends!
This hasn’t been an easy decision. My dream for job.zip was to share trends across all industries to figure out which jobs remain in a changing AI-enriched world.
However, this has proven more difficult than I thought as a one-man team.
The biggest struggle I’m facing is ensuring that all trends are based on high-quality job data. I have this data for tech jobs, since I know exactly where all of them are being shared, having worked in tech all my professional life.
I don’t know this for healthcare, agriculture, hospitality, etc. Could I figure this out? Sure, but tracking 100+ niche job boards to index every single day is simply too much while also trying to build a great product.
Focusing on just technology opens several new opportunities as well. For example, in the next couple of months, I plan to add additional sources to discover and track trends outside of job postings like GitHub, Newsletters, and Podcasts.
The goal is to make job.zip the most comprehensive tech trends platform in the world!
The pivot starts today, with several changes already made and some others coming later this month:
You will notice that the trends in this month’s newsletter are already all technology trends
Later this week we’re soft-launching a new technology job search. It will include over a million jobs that have been posted during the last 7 days. It’s the perfect job board to keep track of new opportunities in your area.
Make sure to follow my LinkedIn for the launch! When you receive this email you will still see the non-tech-related categories on the site.
I plan to replace these with technology categories later this week. Currently, each trend has at most 3 categories. We will no longer limit this. For example, a programming language trend like “Next.JS” will likely be categorized with “Software Engineering”, “Programming Language”, “JavaScript”, “React”.Next week I’m planning a series of newsletters with a “Best of 2024”. Stay tuned!

Job Trends Emerging this year!
These roles and industries appeared in jobs for the first time this year:
1. AgentForce
AgentForce is Salesforce’s AI agent. It was only announced 3 months ago and over 30 employers are already recruiting developers and AI specialists!
2. TRT-LLM
A large language model (LLM) built to work seamlessly with NVIDIA's TensorRT, boosting the speed and efficiency of language processing tasks.
3. n8n
n8n is a free and open-source alternative to Zapier. An automation tool used to connect different applications and automate workflows. It is used to streamline processes and increase efficiency by automating repetitive tasks.
Growing strong in 2024
These Trends are on the way up this year:
Agentic AI is gaining incredible traction in the job market this year. It’s currently #2 behind LangGraph with a growth of +2173% !!
The concept refers to artificial intelligence systems that can operate autonomously, making decisions and completing tasks without constant human oversight.
Numerous companies are now working on AI Agents, and ‘Agentic’ is the new buzzword that comes along with it!
Ollama is one of the most popular products to run large language models locally on your own computers, as opposed to popular applications like ChatGPT which runs in the cloud.
While cloud is no longer the security and privacy risk from years ago there’s still a large market to run emerging technology on your own hardware, which Ollama is trying to capture.
Humanoid robots are advanced machines designed to resemble and function like humans. These robots typically have a torso, head, two arms, and two legs, mimicking human form and movement capabilities.
Humanoid robots are gaining traction because they offer versatility and the ability to interact naturally with humans, making them suitable for various roles in healthcare, education, and customer service. Their human-like form allows them to navigate environments designed for people, use tools made for humans, and provide psychological comfort in social settings. While purpose-built robots excel in specific tasks, humanoid robots' adaptability and intuitive design make them increasingly valuable in diverse applications.
That’s it for now, thanks for reading!
